NATIONAL SENIOR SINGLES 2012

Held at JJ's Merseyside

Senior Referee for the day Robert Shore.

4th year of running this event.

Format was round robin groups to start, two going through from each group.

Some quality pool played but must mention Frankie Ward who won his group winning all 5 matches. Harris Ali and Kenny Riddell both winning their groups and all matches too.

Into the last 16, Chris Littler and Duncan Lowery whitewashed their opponents 4-0.

Dean Booth, Bill Rigby and Keith Brewer, 4-1 wins respectively. Down to a decider for Kenny and Shane Robinson, Kenny coming out top.

Into the quarters. Bill Rigby and keith Brewer came out 4-1 winners, Chris Littler (Defending Champion) 4-2 winner.

The semis ended with Chris beating John Betts 5-1 although this really didn't reflect the match and the way it was played. Bill was beaten 5-0 by Keith, Bill really didn't get a look in as Keith dished twice on him.

So into the final, Keith v Chris. 1st two frames one each. 3rd frame Keith on his last yellow which was over pocket, but somehow how didn't go in the middle bag which would have landed him on black. Chris stepped forward potted 3 balls and black to make it 2-1.

5th frame Keith broke and dished. 6th frame Chris hampered himself on his 2nd to last red, so he decided to use a spider and a rest but didn't succeed with the shot. 4-2 to Keith. 7th frame nip & tuck. Chris was dead and buried, but Keith played a shot, a tight cut to the pocket and the white went back up the table and in off in the middle bag. Chris 2 shots pots his last yellow and black: 4-3.

8th frame a bit scrappy Chris finished a clearance with 4 yellows and the black, a good first yellow long pot past the black into the pocket to make it 4-4 into the final frame.

Final frame Keith to break, potted a yellow, stayed on yellows and opened up a ball on the next shot. Chris went for a pot on reds missed it and potted a yellow opened everything up, 2 shots to Keith in which he proceded to finish on 1 visit. Good clearance to win and become Champion 2012.

A good day was had by all, everything went smoothly.

Finally I would like to thank Paul and his staff at JJ's who couldn't do enough for us and for making us feel more than welcome. Than You.
