Chairman's statement about Professional World Championship

14th June 2021

The EPA wishes to provide players with the following update regarding senior tours. For the avoidance of doubt, “senior tours” means the Seniors International Pool Tour, the Southern Seniors Tour and the Masters Tour.

At the EPA AGM held on 5-6 June 2021 via Microsoft Teams, at which the EPA Vice Chair role (amongst others) was naturally open for election, the incumbent, Shirley Jewkes, verbally resigned and immediately left the meeting. Shirley Jewkes has since confirmed to the EPA Secretary, in writing, that she has resigned from all roles held with EPA.

EPA has had telephone dialogue with all venues due to host senior tours to inform them of the above situation and to assure them that EPA’s preferred position remains to go ahead with running the senior tours. To do this, however, EPA obviously requires the backing of the venues.

All venues have indicated verbally that they do wish to continue working with EPA, and EPA is currently in the process of formalising these agreements with written contracts. As soon as the last of these contracts is signed and received back from the venues, EPA will confirm that the senior tours will be going ahead exactly as advertised. EPA will not be making any further comment until such time.
