Lancashire

About

Lancashire OutlineLancashire is one of English pool's strongest heartlands − built on proud town rivalries, big match atmospheres, and a deep volunteer-led pool culture that runs from Morecambe Bay coast and Blackpool Cost right through to the mill towns of East Lancashire, and to the Merseyside and Greater Manchester borders.

The Lancashire County Pool Association (LCPA) is affiliated to Region 2 of the English Pool Association (EPA)(alongside Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and West Yorkshire). LCPA exists to grow participation, raise playing standards, and provide clear pathways from local league pool into county and national EPA competition.

What LCPA organises

Intercounty (County Teams)

LCPA selects and organises Lancashire intercounty squads across multiple sections − including Under 18's, Under 23's, Ladies and Open − competing against other counties for regional honours and national qualification routes.

Lancashire has recently demonstrated real strength in the development sections − including success at the EPA & Ultimate Pool Intercounty Shootout 2025, where Lancashire (Region 2) were crowned Under 23's Winners, alongside further Lancashire representation reaching the latter stages in other sections.

Interleague (Local−League Representative Teams)

LCPA runs one of the country's largest interleague programmes, where teams represent their local leagues and compete for county titles and national finals places. For the 2026 season, Lancashire's interleague has expanded again − with a structure that reflects both competitiveness and the growing strength of the county game:

  • 26 Open Interleague teams
  • 10 dedicated Ladies Interleague teams

This expansion has been driven by record demand and the ambition to keep divisions balanced, fair, and competitive at every level.

Youth & Ladies development – a Lancashire strength

Lancashire has built a strong reputation for developing players − particularly in Under 18's, Under 23's and Ladiessections − creating clear progression routes from local league pool to county teams and national competition.

A standout example is Lancashire's Ladies Interleague programme, which is widely regarded as a leading development pathway − and includes the only dedicated Ladies Interleague league structure in the country, giving female players consistent competitive fixtures, clear divisional progression, and a strong stepping-stone into county and national events.
